2.Storyboard & Moodboard

Storyboard slides were organised by En Yu and Me (Yi En)

Our group chose Topic 3 : The impact of social media in society. Our first task was to create a storyboard, planning out each frame as well as transition ideas. Frame planning and storyboard sketches was done by all group members according to what part we choose. Do refer to the task delegation document for more details on who planned which frame.

Miro (Moodboard & Color Palette) :

We also created a Miro board to contribute style ideas and colour theme for our illustrations. After discussion, we finalised an illustration style and created a moodboard. Then En Yu selected the colour palette and shared the AI file with all members so they can create swatches.

Style frames slides were organised by En Yu and Me (Yi En)

After completing our storyboard sketches and moodboard, we moved on to creating illustartion that were most challenging to do. The challenging parts were mostly the scenes where body parts were shown. This is because at first , everyone's outcome doesn't same ,Mr. Shamsul also said that our first illustration outcome inconsistent. So , I trying to redo mostly part of illustration cause Mr.Shamsul said mine illustration style is good to animated.

3.Script breakdown

Next, we planned the timing for each frame. This organisation also allowed us to identify specific parts easier when illustrating and animating.

4.Illustration

Here are the original illustrations done by all group member, referring to the storyboard sketches.

As the lead illustrator, my task was to go through everyone's illustrations and revise them. I thought this would be a quick job but of course, it wasn't and it took some days. Because I was mentioned just now , lecturer said our illustration style was inconsistent.

While revising the illustrations, I found common mistakes such as:
• Some team members totally don't know how to use Adobe Illustrator (Because our scene was done by Adobe Illustator)
• Color theme doesn't match.
• Inconsistent shape sizes of symmetrical shapes.

These issues were relatively simple to fix, but the real pain came when I received a few members' frames that were completely deviating from the agreed style and instructions. Was disappointed, since trust was put forth, but not well.

fig. 1.4 ; Before and after revising

Above are some before and afters. I'm very picky about illustrations, Qian Kuan and Yan Xi not good at using Adobe Illustration , so even if they redo them the illustration also don't come out very well, so mostly illustration is redo by me and some scene was redo by Yuk Guan.

Once the illustration is handled , then we started proceed to animation (Adobe After Effect), En Yu is responsible for the animation processing of scene1-12 , SPX and voice over ;Yuk Guan is responsible for the animation processing of scene13-19.

4.Animation

The final animation was compiled and edited by En Yu (Scene1-12,Voice over ,SPX)  and Yuk Guan (Scene 12-19). En Yu and Yuk Guan also took some creative liberties in changing up some parts of the illustration to fit the animation style and transitions.
